Yet another shot from last Friday: on the ground, in the bushes, someone had dumped large blocks of what looked like green ice, but which I suspect might be green tea…
Anyway, ants were swarming everywhere, so what better excuse to get out the 60mm macro lens and see what I could do.
Macro is tough – the depth of field is razor thin, so you have to manually preset the focus, then kind of lean in until it looks sharp and hit the shutter release.
Bear in mind too, that a 60mm lens means that if you want 1:1 reproduction, you’re only centimetres away from the critters. So I don’t think I’ll be photographing snakes just yet.
