“Hoarder’s Junk” : Porto, 9th September 2011

My house is full of old rubbish. I’m loath to throw anything out, really, and as such the junk has accumulated to terrifying proportions over the years.

I certainly wouldn’t want strangers looking in my windows and photographing the untidy contents, and yet that is exactly what I’ve done here to some poor stranger in Portugal.

Incidentally, I’m off on holiday this week, so if the comments on these photo posts seem a bit terse and ‘phoned in’, that’s because they are! I did seven in a row in a rush….

The southern French town of Carcassonne is renowned for its remarkable castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Now, while I agree that that particular edifice is quite extraordinary, I and my camera found innumerable buildings of an altogether humbler nature to occupy us in town.

Sadly, as I pointed out in my related Picture of the Day #3, I seemed to be the only tourist who saw something of value in these beautiful old homes: everyone else just passed them by without giving them a second glance, let along capture them on camera.
