Another shot from Rome’s most astonishing ancient building, the Pantheon (see Photo of the Day #28), this time from last August.
Having taken the usual shots of the dome, I wondered what it would look like if I set the exposure for the patch of blue sky in the opening above, and this was the result, with a corresponding circle of detail revealed below.

Inside the Vatican Museum : sometimes, especially when it’s as crowded as this place is, it pays for the photographer to turn away from the exhibits (good as they are) and cast your eyes elsewhere for inspiration. (Nikon D7000 with 18-200mm zoom).
